Potpourri of the garbs as sefa celebrates Heritage Day

The poutporri of cultural garbs was on display when sefa celebrated Heritage Day. The staff proudly showed off an assortment of heritage lineages representing a multi-cultural society. The Pedis, Vendas, Zulus, Xhosas to mention a few, all stitched up representing diversity and one common destination.

We were treated to dances of the North, ibheshu clad Zulus, colourful Sotho outfits to red umbrellas of the Capetonians. The colourful food smoke billows in the air as if ululating to the prevailing mood of heritage.

Heritage Day is a South African public holiday celebrated on 24 September. On this day, South Africans across the spectrum are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs to all its people.

There were also performances from the units ranging from poetry to dancing. “sefa staff is very creative and innovative with flowering dresses ,themes and performances”, says Esther Gruindel.

“This time always presents us an opportunity to remind ourselves who we are and the beauty of multiculturalism”, added Vicky Malale.

Tsholofelo Lebalo, who steered the programme for the day, thinks it is important for sefa staff to participate in this kind of events in order to remind each other how important it is to celebrate diversity. The acknowledgement of this allows us to identify the common future South Africa dearly needs”.

It is complement to the Human Capital staff which organized the festivities.
